Ezekiel Elliott, the former first-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys, has re-signed with the team after spending the past season with the New England Patriots. The 28-year-old running back is expected to undergo a physical before the deal becomes official.

Elliott, known as "Zeke," was drafted by the Cowboys in 2016 and quickly became one of the most productive running backs in the NFL. He has earned three Pro Bowl selections and two NFL rushing titles during his career.

The Cowboys released Elliott in August 2022 after he struggled with injuries and a decline in production. He signed with the Patriots shortly thereafter and rushed for 562 yards and four touchdowns in 12 games.

Elliott's return to Dallas is expected to provide a boost to a Cowboys offense that struggled to consistently move the ball in 2022. He will join a backfield that includes Tony Pollard and Rico Dowdle.
