Toronto's Rally Falls Short in 10th Inning
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - April 24, 2024 - Bobby Witt Jr.'s double in the bottom of the 10th inning drove in two runs and lifted the Kansas City Royals to a 5-4 walk-off win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
The Blue Jays had tied the game in the top of the inning on a wild pitch, but Witt's hit off Jays reliever Bowden Francis put Kansas City back in front.
The Royals improved to 11-9 with the win, while the Blue Jays fell to 10-10.
Toronto starter Jose Berrios allowed three runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. Reliever Yimi Garcia (0-1) took the loss after allowing Witt's double.
Royals starter Zack Greinke allowed two runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings. Reliever Scott Barlow (2-1) earned the win after pitching a scoreless 10th inning.
The Blue Jays will face the Royals again on Wednesday in the series finale. Right-hander Chris Bassitt will start for Toronto, while left-hander Kris Bubic will take the mound for Kansas City.
